We are in England!

At Newark Airport - Ready to Go!
It has been several days since I have been able to write a post!

We have been very busy here in England. We had a good flight and even arrived early. That meant we had to circle the airport for 20 minutes because we were not allowed to land before a certain time due to a curfew.
Windsor Castle
Our first day was a busy day and we were very tired by the end of the day. We toured Windsor Castle, but the queen was not at home, so we did not see her.!

We had a quick walking tour of Eaton while we were there.
Trinity College
Next we got back into the bus and drove to Oxford, where we met up with Beth. She was coming from Atlanta, so arrived on a different flight from us.

We toured Oxford and Trinity Collage for a short while, but cut the touring short because we were very tired!
The our driver took us to Eynsham Hall for our first night. It was a beautiful old Manor House way out in the country.

Monday morning we were picked up and taken to Pax Lodge!! We have finally made it!

We also met up with two Girl Guides that were in India with some of the others travelers, and talked with them and exchanged gifts. Jan and Diane were a big help in getting us organized and giving ideas.

The London Eye at Night!

Carol, Tracy, Katrina, and Bev decide to make a mad dash to try on get on The London Eye at night, but they shut the door in our faces! We had to return on Tuesday!

Everyone else spent the evening with Jan and Diane learning about Girl Guides.

Tuesday we were up and at breakfast by 8am, and flag ceremony at 9am. We left right after to begin our explorations of London.

We all managed to get on the right tube and arrive downtown without getting lost!
A little cold and rainy, but we still went on top!

We then took an open top bus tour, where you can get on and off all day. Everyone had different ideas of where to go so we all split up after a while.

Several of us got off first to go to the London Dungeon!  Katrine and Carol decided it was too scary and went for a walk instead. We met back up in an hour and continued on.

We got back on the tour bus and rode around some more, till we passed the London Eye. We got off and had and early dinner of "jackets" - baked potatoes with stuff on them - chilli, cheese, bacon, beans.

Tracy, Karen, Carol, Bev and Katrina went for a sunset ride on the London Eye, and several others arrived later and went on a night ride to see the lights of London.

Tracy and Bev went shopping and looking for The Hard Rock Cafe! After a very long walk, we found it!

Carol, Karen and Katrina headed back to Pax Lodge.

Everyone is doing fine and deciding what to do today.

It's 6am now on Wednesday, and I will try and fill you in some more later!

  1. Are you sure that you weren't visiting England with your son if you were at a Hard Rock?
